As a person comes into this world, they are imprinted with various aspects that attribute who that someone is and tendencies that may come to be. Along the way changes occur inside the body which invokes the further release of chemicals, called hormones that regulate and contribute to the foundations of managing behaviors. All the while there are triggers lying within our DNA that can be awakened, and become problematic or beneficial, depending on the situation. Nonetheless both heredity as well as hormones contribute to structure in similar and differing ways.
When looking at behavior the heredity factor must be recognized. Each person is made of chromosomes that shape our existence from generations past. Temperament, emotions, as well as others are structured internally leaving way for the possibility of having the same aggression as an elderly relative. However there is a great deal of coping skill, along with behavioral tools that can counteract negativity within. “Behavior genetics focuses on the extent to which heredity accounts for individual differences in behavior and thinking.” (Biological Basis of Behavior, pp. 68) Along with the idea of genetics comes evolutionary psychology which studies the focus point to thinking and mental processes, as well as behaviors that all people can relate to. Various characteristics are defined by what our genes say but the reality is that counter measures can be taken in particular instances. As we grow, our nature, interaction and expression becomes alter by another significant factor in human behavior.
If genes are the foundation, then hormones are the rest of the house. While sharing similar coordinates with genes, and also playing their role in the definitive internal eternity. As time passes and we trek through different stages of development, our hormones react in different ways. Sometime these hormones can raise the levels of emotions and behavioral issues can arise. The endocrine system sets the hormone factor apart from heredity in the sense that each particular part plays a role in counteracting body temper tantrums. The master gland is considered
