The first step is the base of the plain puff. The corn/ cornmeal. The workers start off by cutting off the corn from the cob. Next they put the corn in these big machines. This will break down the corn into cornmeal. Finally, they put the cornmeal through the machine to turn it into dough. Which is than put through a machine/ baker that will turn it into the puff.
Where does the flavor come from?
Once we have the puff it is then going to need its color and taste, but before we do that we need to add in maltodextrin. ¨Commonly made from corn, maltodextrin is used in the seasoning mix to dilute and evenly distribute flavors and colors.”-Wired.com This brings us to the next step, which is adding in the milk fats and protein which is also mixed in with amino and acid to give it the famous cheesy flavor that everyone loves.
Spicy?
The fifth step to making this snack is to give it that kick that makes everybody’s mouth flame up with spiciness. This special ingredient is called monosodium glutamate. This will add on that spiciness that we love. The sixth step is going to be adding in their secret ingredient that holds the secret to flaming hot Cheetos.
