The first main point I’m going to be talking about is his early life. Calvin was born on July 4, 1872, in Plymouth Notch, Vermont. His parents were John Calvin Coolidge and Victoria Josephine Moor. Also, his mother died when he was 12. He only had one sibling, Abigail Grace, who died from appendicitis several years after his mother died. There is not really much to talk about in his early life, but we are on to the next point. The second point is about his life as a young adult. Calvin was an average student in his elementary school, but at first, he went to a local school. He then enrolled at Black River Academy in Ludlow, Vermont. The college he was studying at was Amherst College and he did that from 1891 to 1895. “...He also took first prize in a national contest for his senior essay, "The Principles Fought for in the American Revolution” (Greenberg par. 2). The adage of the adage. Calvin went to college to study for a law degree and then he was admitted to the bar, opening his own law office in 1898. Coolidge married Grace Anna Goodhue in 1905. Grace was a well-educated person and she received her degree from the Clark School for the Deaf in Massachusetts. She taught elementary school children until she got married. They had two children together, John Coolidge and Calvin Coolidge, Jr. Even though they were opposites of each other, Grace was a talkative and social person while Calvin was a stoic and serious person. Somehow their marriage turned out great and they were happily married. The third
