The Revival

After the bombing of the city, life changed drastically. Montag and his friends now started building their new society. The few men rebuilding made sure that the new society would reflect the needs of the people, most importantly, leisure and recreation. They included many activities such as fishing, hunting, spending time with friends and family, and most of all, reading. As the new population began to grow, since the previous one had been totally destroyed, the intellectuals made sure everyone was reading. Their intention was to expand the mind of these new individuals for them to become smarter. The new society was one in which intelligence was looked upon with admiration instead of disgust. Naturally, with his new found intelligence, Montag brought back the normal ideals of family. No more television to fill the void of family members, but rather actual human beings. Additionally, having children was one thing the founders expected of the new population because they wanted the population to keep rising. Children were now a vital part of the family and were not looked at as disturbances. The warmth and compassion children were supposed to receive from their parents was now brought back. Equally important, technology was seen as a large detrimental factor to how the new society would function. Therefore, the ability of people to own, use, and operate technology was severely limited due to the imminent threat of the new society heading down the same path as the previous one. As mentioned before, the whole city was destroyed after the bombings. New buildings and architecture needed to be built to bring the life of the new culture back. Since the new government was having trouble getting on its feet and stabilizing, the founders came up with a brilliant idea. Everyone of age in the new population was put to work to rebuild the city. Not only did this create several jobs, but it also gave the people a new found purpose
