George Washington served in the war during the American Revolution. After he helped gain American independence from Great Britain, George Washington, became the first U.S. President in 1789. George Washington accomplished many great things in his life. In Washington’s early life, he was trained as a land surveyor, and he was taught mathematics. George Washington became the 1st President of America two years after the American Revolution ended. He supported Alexander Hamilton’s war debt program. The U.S. Congress came up with the Naturalization Act in 1790. “Congress also allowed citizens’ children born outside the U.S. to be considered natural-born citizens”(Naturalization bill). In 1796, George Washington resigned as U.S. President, and returned to Mount Vernon, where he expanded his property before he died. George Washington led the Continental Army to victory, which helped the Americans gain their freedom from Britain.
