I think that Jackie Robinson made the biggest impact on civil rights. He was not only the first black MLB player, but he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He put up with the hate to do something he truly loved doing.
To get the Presidential Medal of Freedom, you’ve got to be an individual who has made an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
