The laws that were put together in the Roman times are still rejected upon today. Rome first established standards of justice. Rome brought everyones rights to attention. They knew that someone was innocent until proved guilty. Today, if you are suspected of a crime, there must be proof for there to be any harm done to you and for any jail time to be spent. The fact that someone could be punished for their thoughts seems absurd, however without Roman influence, that could be that case. They believed in pushing someone for what they did, not what their intentions are or if they think something bad. Laws in Rome were based on realism and common sense, they seem normal but they had to be made laws and we still use most of them
