Roman Empire : What Made It Great? The city of Rome was founded in 753 BC. Beside the Tiber River, about 15 miles inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea, the city was placed within the hills, which provided the city with natural protection. Along with easy access to major rivers for trade. Which helped Rome expand itself to become a dominant superpower in the ancient world. Many other factors and events led to its uprising. The rise of Rome to greatness was driven by many key factors, including economic prosperity, political and administrative excellence, and a social structure that promoted equality and trust. This great administration ensured that the empire was not only expansive but also managed, with a focus on justice and efficiency. Roman governors, rather than being oppressive overlords, displayed great protectors. They ruled with the consent of the governed, showing the principles of elected officials in a democracy. This approach helped foster loyalty and cooperation among the people, ensuring smoother governance and less resistance.
