Ronald Reagan is remembered as a transformative figure and conservative leader who changed America for the better. His past decisions still shape today's America. As a Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan's charisma and welcoming personality enabled him to reach across the aisle to create diplomatic relations, helped improve America’s economy, and left a legacy that inspires many to take pride in being an American and to appreciate the security that we have and enjoy. Star Ronald Raegan was not born in Hollywood or born in the riches of New York, not even in the depths of Chicago. He was born in the small village of Tampico, Illinois, on February 6, 1911. Jimmy Carter’s platform included issues such as protecting the environment and protecting abortion rights. Reagan made his opposition to abortion clear, but this was not his focal point. He also believed that the efforts made in protecting the environment were harming the nation's economy. Reagan promised to provide things such as tax cuts, a smaller federal government, and to keep the federal budget under control and balanced. Reagan had advantages over Carter.
