Silk was invented in China because silkworms are a natural resource. The wonderful natural material was the imperial dynasties number one export and it still a popular item today. Silk was popular because of its delicacy.
Chinese also exported a lot of porcelain. Porcelain was made into bowls, plates, and masks. Proto-porcelain wares from the Shang Dynasty dated from 1600-1046 and from the Eastern Han Dynasty from 206 BC to 220 AD. Glazed ceramic wares developed into porcelain as high-fired ware.
