Most of these restrictions were enacted by Roosevelt, also known as “Trust Buster,” a title Roosevelt wore with pride. America was coming out of an era where big businesses ruled, and the wage gap between the rich and poor had never been farther apart. Roosevelt sought to break the stereotypes and help bridge that gap in income and different mindsets between the upper and working classes. While many of the upper class company owners did great works for society, others were greedy. An example of this is when the United Mine Workers quit working until they got higher wages. Realizing that something needed to be done about the situation, Roosevelt decided to hold a meeting at the White House between the coal mine owners and the workers. Threatening both the owners and workers, the President warned them he would put the mine under government control by means of force if they continued to act like whining
