Thats right the Luisiana Purchase. When the French were in big trouble they needed a way out. There government wasn't in a very good state at the time and they needed the money really bad so when they were given the chance to sell the land they took it. The United States of corse wanted the land to become a bigger and stronger country. To make such a big decision the colonist needed someone they could trust and count on.
