My last reason is most times overlooked. A reporter said, “ Child soldiers should not be prosecuted... Prosecution of a child should always be regarded as a measure of last resort and the purpose being of any sentence to rehabilitate and reintegrate the child into society.” We shouldn’t be punishing these children for being forced into the army rather, we should be helping them come back and be connected into society. The problem with prosecution is that far too many problems can come from it. Prosecution can be based off a lack of evidence, and more selective. Rehabilitation programs have been shown to be more successful. Showing that this is a better way to take action and help these child soldiers rather than punish them. By this evidence I am clearly convinced that, by the loss of families and friends of the child because of the military, it causes the child to make these decisions.
