Howard Gardner's theory of the different types of intelligences has been extremely influential in educational practice over the years. According to Gardner, individuals who have various types of intelligence tend to excel in those areas. Gardner has proposed eight different types of intelligence. Today, I will be talking about three of them: verbal/linguistic, body-kinesthetic, and logical/mathematical. To start off, verbal/linguistic intelligence are people tend to think in words and to use language to express and understand complex meanings, reflect on the use of language in everyday life, and are sensitive to the meaning of words as well as the order of words, their sounds, rhythms, and inflections. Some examples in real world are writing which is the ability and interest in writing projects such as poems, stories, books, or letters and linguistic sensitivity which is a skill in …show more content…
They explore and learn through movement and have a natural sense of coordination, balance, grace dexterity and timing. Some examples of this intelligence includes working with hands which is using the hands with dexterity and skill for detailed activities and small work and dancing or acting in which they use the body in expressive, rhythmic, and imitative ways. Finally, people with the logical/mathematical intelligence tend to use logic and mathematical skills to solve problems, such as scientific questions. They are able to calculate, quantify, consider propositions, and perform complex mathematical or logical operations and are excellent problem solvers. A couple examples to this intelligence includes problem solving which is a skill in organization, problem solving, and logical reasoning curiosity and investigation as well as calculations which is the ability to work with numbers for mathematical operations such as addition and
