should handle illegal immigration equitably, because it doesn’t harm border communities. El Paso is a prime example for being a border community that has illegal immigrants. However, it is known as one of the safest cities in the world because of the illegal immigrants that live there. Over the past 100 years, a multitude of studies by independent researchers have consistently found that, “...immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or to be behind bars than are native born” (Balko 59). Not only are immigrants keeping those communities safe, but they also work the low-wage/skill jobs that boost the United States’ local tax base. Immigrants also give companies near the border more able-bodied workers that require low pay, as well.
