Immigration deems to be a touchy topic, especially illegal immigration. “According to recent immigration data, approximately 5.5 million children in the United States under the age of 18 live in undocumented households, and between 1.5 and 2 million of them are undocumented students”(Kim, 2013). The United States government is trying to put laws in place to stop illegal immigration and finding innovative ways to prevent these people from entering the country. One of these bills is called the D.R.E.A.M Act, or the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (The development, relief, and education for alien minors (dream) act.2011) . The name of this bill describes the actions that should be taken for alien minors; provide them with a means of aid, education and also ways in which they can better themselves, like access into the military or a chance at a citizenship or permanent residency. “The DREAM Act is a bipartisan piece of federal legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for responsible, qualifying children of unauthorized immigrants.
