Accountability plays a huge part of the Army. Soldiers can be accountable for numerous things. Examples: a truck, personal weapons, TA 50 and paperwork. The Army spends lots of money on equipment and belongings for us soldiers, so the Army expects to know where all of are equipment is at all times. If you lose accountability of anything you can risk the threat of having items stolen or losing them. It is important that you maintain everything that belongs to you because it shows self-discipline and shows how responsible of an adult you are. Losing anything can cause major problems. For instance if you lose a weapon and your down range not only will you be screwed you screw over your battle buddies and the people around you over. And can possibly …show more content…
The way losing accountability goes against loyalty is if your never accountable for anything such as your soldiers your weapons your gear then how your battle buddies be able to rely on you and know that you are going to be at the right time at the right place with all the right things that you are going to need to accomplish the mission and not being loyal to your battle buddies is a serious problem that could cause many people you know to die. You need to make sure that buddies know that you are loyal because if they don’t that in return they will not be loyal to you. It goes against respect because as a NCO if you can’t keep accountability of your soldiers of where they are or supposed to be if you cannot keep track of your soldier’s weapons no one will respect accountability. Accountability is described as how a soldier conducts him or herself on duty. Moreover accountability is an expression of integrity towards accounting for their actions if they fail to honor their commitment and work towards making the situation better. A reliable individual enjoys autonomy, confidence, and leeway to conduct one’s work. Accountability elicits responsibility. Responsibility is a virtue of showing that one is mature and a dependable person that someone can trust. A soldier shows responsibility by assuming all actions and decisions and failures of duty assigned. Accountability encourages ownership as when individuals learn to be answerable and responsible for their actions and outcomes they learn to associate value with their work. When soldiers are assigned their roles they understand that they are valuable and crucial in the structure of the organization. Consequently they are motivated to evert more effort in their work. Their individual behavior and actions begin to align with their expectations and start observing their outcomes as a contribution to a team. Accountability ensures performance by making sure all soldiers work towards a common goal.
