INSANITY presents as a contained supernatural, horror tale. The formula is somewhat familiar with the idea of a group of friends being trapped and being killed one-by-one. For horror, it’s considered a tried and true formula, although, it’s not highly refreshing or new. With that said, being trapped in a cave is an intriguing location.

The goal of survival is clear and the stakes are high. The script contains some of the features that make for a successful horror film: being trapped, the sense of being stalked, unexplained noises, creepy dolls, demons, moral choices, and the threat of death. There are solid themes about revenge and forgiveness. The script propels the idea of an eye for an eye mentality.

Some of the dialogue contradicts each other. Alex says he made a mistake and that he’s not bothered by it, but later in the same speech he says, “I’ve been feeling bad ever since!” This is contradictory. Either he’s not bothered or he’s feeling bad.

The secrets reveal need to build in the level of intensity with the most explosive one at the end. For a horror film, the tone isn’t terrifying enough as currently executed. While the Russian roulette game could potentially be tense, the audience doesn’t care enough about the characters and the dialogue sounds un-natural. This dilutes the scene.

Thus, creating more relatable characters, with stronger dialogue, and more personal connections will help create a more powerful script.

The professional presentation can be polished. There’s no need to explain in the description what the demon is saying and then repeat it through the character. Remember, the audience can’t see the narrative descriptions. They can only hear the character. So when the demon is speaking, either the audience needs to hear the demon speaking or the character has to verbalize (as they do now) what the demon said, but don’t repeat this in the
