“Into The Wild” is a book written In 1996 Jon Krakauer wrote this book based on the travels of Christopher McCandless across North America and his life spent in the Alaskan wilderness in the early 1990s. In 2007 American biographical drama survival film written and directed by Sean Penn. This book follows the travels of Chris McCandless mostly in the western part of the United States, as well as in Alaska, Mexico, and Virginia. The events in the book takes place in the 1980s and 1990s. The main characters in the book are Chris McCandless, Wayne Westerberg, Walt McCandless, Billie McCandless, Carine McCandless, Jim Gallien, Ronald Frantz, Gene Rosellini, John Waterman, Carl McCunn, Everett Ruess, and Gaylord Stuckey. metro area and attended Emory University. When he graduated college, he donated his money to a charity and headed out West. Away from home Chris went by the name “Alex” and adopted the full name of “Alexander Supertramp” while hiking. Chris died of starvation in the Alaskan wilderness. Wayne Westerberg employed McCandless in Carthage, South Dakota. McCandless became friends with Westerberg and enjoyed his time in South Dakota so much that he claimed South Dakota as his home. Westerberg was able to supply authorities with McCandless’s social security number when he was found dead. Walt McCandless and Billie McCandless are Chris’s parents. In later years, Chris got angry with Walt when he found out Walt had a child by his first wife after Chris had been born to Walt’s second wife. Billie and Walt began a private consulting firm and became successful enough to give Chris and his sister privileged lives. Carine McCandless is Chris’s younger sister, daughter of Billie McCandless. Carine was very close to her brother and had a very tough time dealing with his death. Jim Gallien delivers the hitchhiking McCandless to his final destination.
