The 1820s in the United States marked the beginning of the first ideas centered around the concept of the anti-slavery movement. However, by the 1830s, views had shifted, and the view for the immediate release of slaves started an abolitionist crusade. Among leaders of the movement, some came out with written works driving the need for change. Ira Berlin’s Thesis stated that William Lloyd Garrison, a leader of the abolitionist crusade, started challenging slavery and anti-slavery movements through his radical ideas in The Liberator, breaking the silence on the matter.
