America has been claimed to be a free country. But is it really? Do we have freedom? What price does freedom come? In the message Franklin Roosevelt wrote to the congress he states: "freedom from fear is eternally linked with freedom from want." America has been pronounced a free country from time and time again. The thing you never hear a lot is that Americans themselves are free. Just because we live in a free country does that mean that we ourselves are free? My definition of freedom is being without personal limits but obeying the law at the same time. Whoever how much freedom can you get with obeying every law out there? We are often quick to pass laws without thinking of the consequences of every individual. It's time that we stop thinking of America as a free country and start thinking of the people in America as free. Freedom is the one thing that people hold onto. It is our hope. For that very reason it becomes easy for someone to tell us that we are free. Let's take Fahrenheit 451 for an example. In the book the government forbids all forms of books. For a simple reason, because they think that everyone should be the same. That everyone should be titled to think the same, to act the same, and even to look the same. However, when you give someone a book there minds go wild with it. They start thinking of what freedom does look like. The fact of the matter is that there will always be someone in charge. The problem with that however, is in today’s society we need a leader not a boss. We need someone who will stop watching everyone live how they want them to live. We need someone who will make America a country worth fighting
