When choosing to want to come to America, there are so many reasons. You are guaranteed your freedom in America, but many countries may be unlawful, or unfair to the people of their country. America can be seen as a ray of hope for people who either live in America or don’t, as they’re known as the land of opportunity. In America, no one is the same as people who look different, think different, and come from different backgrounds, allowing for great diversity. So being American isn’t just one thing, but it has so many different meanings to being American. Having freedom is what draws many people to travel far and wide to come to America. Known singer Neil Diamond once said in “America”, “We’ve been traveling far without a home but not without a star free, only want to be free we huddle close hang onto a dream on the boats and on the planes they’re coming to America never looking back again,” (Lines 2-11). Many people leave their homeland, so they can have freedom in America, because they were not given it in their homeland. America is known to be a country where you are given opportunities. Kix Brooks once claimed in “Only in America”, “Only in America where we dream as big as we want to we all get a chance everybody gets to dance only in America” (Lines 11-15). In some countries girls my age are not able to attend school, but in America that opportunity is given to girls to attend school and the ones of their wishes to help achieve their dreams.
