In a way, how does one go about researching and relating a fictional character to something as important as the identity stages that James Marcia created for us to use? The trick is to study, analyze, and research every piece of literature a character was a part of, until it becomes one fluid piece of evidence you can use to pull factual information from. Norman Bates is not just another fictional character, but one some of us can relate to through the mental and physical abuse, the disorders, the manipulation of one’s inner being until they have no individuality left.
