I chose Jane Addams as my topic for the reason that she was one of the most prominent feminists in the progressive era. Jane Addams lived a very interesting life as a woman in the progressive era. She rejected the idea of getting married or having kids. Instead, she devoted her life to activism and helping others. She was an extremely intelligent woman who embraced philosophy and world peace. She founded many organizations to help both women’s suffrage and poor families. Furthermore, Jane created the Chicago's Hull House, which was the first settlement house in the United states. Many more settlement houses were built afterwards. These houses were dedicated to educating the poor and immigrants from other countries. I couldn’t name off all
