Scout: The character Jean Louise Finch (Scout) is the sister of Jeremy Finch (Jem), and daughter of Atticus Finch. She is the narrator of the novel. Scout has a very fierce tone towards anyone who will challenge her, she unthinkingly rushes into predicaments and fights. ".... but when I was rubbing his nose in the dirt Jem came by and told me to stop" (Lee 30) Given this information, the reader would assume that her character is very confident because, she has the will power to fight boys without any fear. Scout has this type of nature because she is a tomboy, instead of wearing dresses, she wears overalls and acts like one of the boys. Scout is a very bright young girl. She could read and write before entering school. "'Scout yonder's been readin' ever since she was born, and she ain't even started school yet'" (8) The fact that she was able to pick up the skill of reading without going to school and actually being taught, shows her level of intelligence on its own. Altogether, Scout is a strong willed and brillaint child.

When Dill comes to town for the summer, Jem, Dill and Scout like to play games. Usually, Jem is the one who makes up the game. "'I know what we are going to play,' he announced. 'Something new, something different.' 'What?' asked Dill. 'Boo Radley.'" (51) He was also very interested in Arthur Radley; he was someone that got the best of Jems curiosity. He was always wanting to know more about him from the folks around town, and even tried to give a note to Boo Radley, trying to see if he'll come out. "Dill said, 'we're asking him real politely to come out sometimes, and tell us what he does in there - we said we wouldn't hurt him and we'd buy him an ice cream.'"
