With perseverance and sacrifices come success. John D. Rockefeller is the epitome of hard work and sacrifices. With Rockefeller’s success comes power and wealth. John D. Rockefeller was the mastermind in the creation and development of the Standard Oil Company. An oil company that dominated the oil industry, making him the richest man in American in 1889. Rockefeller’s legacy as a successful businessman in the oil industry came about with hard-work and determination. For instances, Rockefeller’s audacity of success started in his early years, peaked in his middle years, and continued in his later years.

In the Book “Breaking Rockefeller,” he is described as a creature of repetitive rhythms and worked like a machine. In order to build a legacy in the business world, Rockefeller was dedicated in his business as he was punctual and spent long hours at work and meetings. Many of us can perceived Rockefeller as greedy, visionary, or both. Although he can be perceived as greedy, he was one of the biggest philanthropist. He was a generous man, who promoted the welfare of others by donating his money to good causes. The man had a heart. For example, as a kid he had a job, he gave a share of his income to his church and charities. As the richest man in America, he made contributions to religious institution and African-American education. Rockefeller retired at the age of 58 and dedicated his time is his philanthropy work. Rockefeller’s legacy prevailed as he made large contributions to The University of Chicago. Also, Rockefeller created the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research and founded the General Education Board, which later became the Rockefeller Foundation. Rockefeller accomplishments in the business world started off at a very young age, nevertheless, he died at the age of 98.
