Of Mice And Men is a novella written by John Steinbeck in 1937. John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, February 27, 1902 to John Ernst Steinbeck and Olive Hamilton Steinbeck. During 1925 Steinbeck drifted from ranch to ranch finding work while continuing his writing. He returned to California in 1929 and released his first book, Cup Of Gold, 2 months before the great stock market crash. In 1930 Steinbeck married Carol Henning who he moved to Los Angeles with. In Los Angeles he continued his writing career but little fame came until 1935. He published his first big success, Tortilla Flat , after it was turned down 5 times.
