I believe that Jesus meant for them to be willing to give up everything and to have faith in him. The apostles didn’t always have complete faith in Jesus. For instance, Jesus told his disciples that he would return from the dead. After he died, they didn’t think he would return from the dead, and when he resurrected they couldn’t believe it. A way that I can be a servant to others is by going on service trips and by helping the needy.
The fig tree and Israel both refused to live for Jesus. In other words, the fig tree (Israel) refused to feed (believe) in Jesus. Jesus teaches his disciples, through the fig tree, that they must never become faithless. The story relates to my life in that it teaches me to never lose faith in God, for I can end up cursed like the fig tree.
The Last Supper is the last meal that Jesus shared with his apostles before his death. The Last Supper is important to us today because it teaches us a lesson. The lesson is that we should serve others and not serve ourselves. Jesus has been betrayed by his apostles a few times. Once when I was betrayed, I felt as if I had done something or said something wrong. This belittled me and put me down in a bad spot. Jesus suffered pain worse than death on the day of the crucifixion. He had the crown of thorns put on his head, had carried his own cross to his destination, whipped, pushed, beaten, impaled, and crucified.
