Julius Caesar is a play written by Shakespeare, relate why Julius Caesar has been killed and what happened afterward, in the city of Rome in the roman empire. We can see that the whole play is about politics, power, strategy, conspiracies. Most of the characters in the play seem to be attracted to power. Is Brutus one of them, or is he more noble and honorable ? We are going to demonstrate that Brutus might be the “noblest Roman of them all” like Marc Antony said at the end of the play.
First of all, Brutus doesn’t say yes immediately to kill Caesar. He seems to need some time to think about it, to evaluate the pros and the cons of the decisions he might make. He …show more content…
The reason of his choice is that he wants to protect Rome, and even if Caesar is his friend, he seems to believe that he would became a tyrant of the city. Brutus say that he cares more about the future of the city than about his friend. He has noble reason to kill Caesar, because he’s thinking about the whole population of Rome, and not about him and the power killing Caesar might gave him.
Brutus is also the last one to kill Caesar, he doesn’t seem to want to be a part of the massacre when Caesar is killed, he just doesn’t have the choice. Furthermore, Brutus see Caesar’s ghost and it can be interpreted as a sign of feeling of guilt: he’s haunted by the ghost of the friend that he has killed.
The last example that can be found in the play that can show that Brutus is noble is that he killed himself. Not that the act of killing himself can be considered as noble (it’s another question) but once again, it can show the guilt that he’s feeling. When Brutus realized that he might have acted inappropriately, he decide to kill himself. To do so, he uses the knife that has been used to kill Caesar himself and said that it would revenge his
