In some areas of law we look at the differences between children and adults. Children are not permitted the same rights and responsibilities as adults (voting, smoking, joining the military) because we notice their incapacity to make decisions. Why don't we recognize the same difference in the criminal law? We don't say, "this is a very important election, so let's let the kids vote". We do not say things like, "this war is a very important, so let's have our children receive weapons and send them to fight for our country". So why do we agree to say this case is unlike, and this child/teen deserves to be treated as an adult and locked away in a prison for life and have no more view of the outside world. That is a short life to live without
