Kanye West a well known African American Rapper is quite the talk of the town in today’s news and media. It all started with an interview on TMZ Live, May 1st with a bizarre comment from West saying, “ When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like choice.” Also, him further explaining his political support for President Donald Trump, which has caused so much controversy with people around the world. Kanye’s political beliefs and comment about slavery was all just him having free thought as he states on multiple occasions. Many people have taken his love and support for Trump and his slavery comment to the heart. African Americans now think he is an embarrassment to the African culture. The NBC News for one was an African American panel of 5 people, it was not like Fox News who was reported by 2 Caucasian reporters and had one African American, former Secretary of State, Connie Rice state her opinion on the current event. NBC handled the situation in which the Panel is getting their point of view out about Kanye West one by one, by bad mouthing him for his political beliefs and the shocking comment he made about slavery, while Fox News does the exact opposite. Fox News sticks up for Kanye West and believes he is entitled to have his own thoughts and opinion about his political beliefs. As former Secretary of State, African American, Connie Rice states on Fox news, “Anybody should be able to think what they think and say it because of the color of their skin.” Meaning Kanye being African American should have the right to express himself of the black matter of slavery since he is black. NBC called Kanye West out for being desperate and how it was all just a call for attention. CNN News reporter Don Lemon stated, “Kanye is embarrassing himself, he doesn’t know his history.” Lemon ment this in a way by which Kanye being African American and all, should know all about the background history on African Americans going through slavery to know it was not a choice. CNN also focused on the fact how Kanye is back on the bandwagon for President Trump and how he is getting political again with his love and support for him. As people may know Trump is one of the most disliked Presidents in America, so it was very shocking that Kanye West who is all about peace and unity would support a person like him.
