The Kids Hoops program is a KIP project I was called to do this year. Kids Hoops is an organization for children who want to learn or enhance their basketball skills while growing their faith in the Lord. This is my passion because as a servant leader, I love to teach and show others things that I have learned, and this is a great way to do so. I was able to use the knowledge and skills that God has given me to help guide and coach these young individuals. I was able to show them leadership skills, teamwork, and hard work. It was also challenging having to share about the Lord with an energetic group of children and connect Gods teachings to basketball. The final challenge was arriving early on a Saturday morning after a Friday night basketball game. However, I was determined because I knew how much they all counted on me to show up, teach them something new, and have fun. The success of this project was that even though some of the children may not pursue basketball as an extracurricular activity or sport, from the first day to the last day they began to learn what teamwork looks like and how working together helps to reach a common goal. Leading a life of influence fosters meaningful connections and a sense of community, like kindness. I am the most kind, grateful, and generous person, and those things have influenced me to be the leader I am today.
