Billy also displays minor symptoms, such as insomnia and lack of ability to focus; thus there is clear textual evidence that Billy has PTSD. Surely, Billy is quite successful after the war, but it is also evident that Billy’s success was also partly because his father was a wealthy optometrist. Billy cannot function properly after the war. The reason might be as he has PTSD, the horrors of yesterday still linger fresh in his mind, the reason why Billy is “unstuck” in time is due to his trauma, Billy has forgotten about past and future, as it just does not exist anymore. There is simply no difference between today and tomorrow for Billy as every day he will live forever, and every day will be in horror and desolation, a day to a “time traveler” is nothing but an event.
