Should people have to pay for college and is it worth it? This is a debatable topic that is talked about by people all through the world where college is available. From student debt, loss of money, graduates not getting good jobs, college doesn’t seem like it is worth what you pay for. Students debt could cause another financial crisis. In the article “Looking for the next crisis? Try student debt” it states, “The high levels of student debt are also serving to perpetuate and even worsen economic inequality, undercutting the opportunity and social mobility that higher education has long promised.” Interpreting that our economic wealth is slowly decreasing. America is also $19.3 trillion in debt and that money going to student loans could be used to help pay America out of debt. …show more content…
In the article “Is a college education worth it?” it says, “Between 2003 and 2012 the number of 25-year-olds with student debt increased from 25% to 43%, and their average loan balance was $20,326 in 2012--a 91% increase since 2003. 10% of students graduate with over $40,000 in debt and about 1% have $100,000 in debt.” Paying back student loans every month is very stressful and can hold you back from pursuing your career and becoming financially independent. Students should be able to graduate with the ability to be successful in the real life without having to deal with student loans holding them back. The point of college is to make you successful, but how is that when you have student loans stopping them from doing
