Morals and politics are what make up the structure of this country, so when an issue receives mixed responses coming from two different points of views it becomes controversial. The legalization of marijuana is a controversial subject; however, there are many positive arguments to support the idea. For many years people of all ages have been using marijuana mainly for recreational purposes, not knowing that it increases their senses and perhaps even helps cure or prevent disease. After many carefully constructed experiments, it is now accepted by several scientists around the world that marijuana effects the human body as a whole by realizing the pain. Marijuana is a drug that is illegal in many states but legal in Colorado and Washington. This drug has positive and negative effect on human body. Many scientist had research on marijuana and they have come to conclusion that it is beneficial in medicine. So the big question raises that should marijuana be legalized for medical purpose. Marijuana has been used as an agent for achieving euphoria since ancient times; it was described in a Chinese medical reference traditionally considered to date from 2737 B.C. Its use spread from China to India and then to N Africa and reached Europe at least as early as A.D. 500.
One of the problem that the country will face by legalizing marijuana is increase in the drug user. Now a days drug user are afraid from the law enforcement but if the government legalized the marijuana then the drug user will not be fear any they will think it ok to use drugs. An increase in drug use will increase in drug related crime. Surveys had shown that people mostly who arrested for marijuana is not because they have been taking drugs but they have committed crime after taking drugs. So I think marijuana should be legalized but just for medical purpose. It should be legalized for the ill patients. “Marijuana has been used for years as a treatment for a variety of medical conditions, including pain Marijuana has been used for years as a treatment for a variety of medical conditions, including pain and nausea resulting from cancer treatment and other illnesses”. (Mass 1). The main benefit of marijuana legalization can be in medicine and will give patients with severe and dangerous diseases a new and effective medicine to help them. One of the primary uses of medical marijuana is for pain control. However, over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen and prescription medications such as codeine can serve as safe, effective alternatives to medical marijuana.
Marijuana as medicine has been studied for many years. In some cultures, it is already used as medicine. There are many good uses for marijuana to be used as medicine to cures disease. The problem is that in order to be used in United States as medicine, marijuana must be legalized. Many doctors have already recommend to their patients to break the law and get marijuana. That’s because there is a very strong evidence that marijuana works as a medicine. Cancer: Marijuana alleviates the nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by the chemotherapy treatment. Glaucoma: Marijuana by reducing intraocular pressure alleviates the pain and slows the progress of the disease. This disease damages vision by gradually increasing eye pressure. It is the leading cause of blindness in United States. Epilepsy: Marijuana prevents epileptic seizures in some patients and allows more fresh areas of bronchi to open up, the chronic often debilitating pain caused by a variety of injuries and disorders.
In today’s world many people are getting into the car accident because of prescription drugs. In Washington, a doctor who was on prescribe drug ran into accident and killed 2 innocent people. There should be strict law if the government legalized marijuana like same as alcohol (age limits, driving law). “You don’t want to scare people,” he said, “but you certainly want to make them
