He made a promise that after she died, he would look after Lennie because he knew that Lennie could not function and survive on his own.”I told his old lady I’d take care of him” (Steinbeck 22). Without George, Lennie would not be able to get food, make decisions, and he would get into a lot more trouble. George was supposed to always stay by Lennie’s side and always look after him and he didn’t. George had a hard time killing Lennie because he cared so much about him and he did not want to kill him but he did and he knew he shouldn’t have.
Though I did not agree with George’s decision to kill Lennie, George knew that if he didn’t do it then it would be much worse when the other men arrive to kill him. Therefore, George made a decision to just kill Lennie himself. He really did not want to but he thought it best that he did it. He cared about Lennie but did not want to frighten him even more when the other men arrived. He did not want Lennie to suffer when they got to him so he just did it himself.
in conclusion. killing is never justified and George should have never killed Lennie. They cared about each other and Lennie never meant to do anything bad. Therefore, he did not have a good reason to kill Lennie and you should never kill another
