Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci Italy. His was most noted as an artist, due to the “Last Supper” and the “Mona Lisa” painting. However, he was also an architect, inventor and a scientist. For this reason, his is considered by many to be one of the most talented and intelligent people of all time. Leonardo’s works such as “Virgin of the rocks”, “The Last Supper” and the “Mona Lisa”, have greatly influenced inumerous amounts of artists, which as a result made Leonardo the leading light of the Italian Renaissance. Therefore, Leonardo da Vinci can be described as a “true Renaissance man”, firstly due to his talent in art which then people regarded him as one of the greatest artists in history. Secondly, Leonardo was also a scientist, many of his drawings were based on the human anatomy. Science were considered important during the Renaissance period, which as a result Leonardo was vastly ahead of his time. His approach to science was not theoretical, but rather more observational. Da Vinci sketched discrete diagrams of the human skeleton, muscles, sinews, the vascular system and genitalia. On the other hand, Leonardo also dissected and studied the structure of amphibians such as birds and a couple of mammals like horses and cows. Every human muscle would be dissected and was tugged and pulled in order for da Vinci to understand how it functioned. He then went on to create a model of the legs made of copper wires connected to the bones in order to make a skeleton.
