Freedom of Speech was adopted in 1791 and the first amendment to the United States constitution.Freedom of Speech is the right to speak,write,and share your ideas and opinions without facing punishment from the government.Although some people might disagree.Freedom of speech is the most important freedom there is. “Letter to Viceroy to Lord Iwrin” is a letter from Gandhi to the government asking them to stop the British rule and if they don't do it he’s threatening a salt march.In the text it says “It is my purpose to set in motion that force as well against the organized violent force of the growing party of violence.”This evidence shows what Gandhi will do if the government doesn't do anything about the British rule. In the text it says “I hope the church as a whole will meet the challenges of this decisive hour.But even if the church does not come to the aid of justice,I have no despair about the future.We will reach the goal of freedom in Birmingham and all over the nation,because the goal of America is freedom.” This evidence shows Martin Luther King hoping that the whole church system joins him but if they don't he still thinks him and his team will be able to reach freedom in Birmingham.Also in the text it says “Before closing I feel to mention one other point in your statement that has troubled me profoundly.You warmly commended the Birmingham police force for keeping “order” and “preventing violence.” I doubt that you would have so warmly commended the police force if you had seen its dogs sinking their teeth into unarmed nonviolent
