After completing a unit, the learners take an end-of-unit test to evaluate their understanding. This test acts as a checkpoint to measure their progress and comprehension of the material. What makes it even more valuable is that the test includes GCSE exam-style questions, some of which are taken from actual GCSE pass papers. This way, the learners become familiar with the question types that they may encounter in the real GCSE exams. It’s an excellent way to prepare them and assess their readiness for the actual GCSE exam. 2.3 Explain how your approach to planning and preparation for the delivery of a learning programme in your own specialist area enables its aims to be met. When I embark on the planning and preparation of a lesson, my initial focus is on thoroughly examining the curriculum and marking scheme. This allows me to gain a clear understanding of the specific topic to be taught and the corresponding learning objectives for that particular lesson. Considering the varying abilities and knowledge levels of my students, I take into account their current grade level and the grade level of the topic being taught. For instance, if the topic is classified as a grade 8/9 level, but my students are currently operating at a grade 5/6 level, I recognise the importance of ensuring their comprehension of the fundamental concepts before delving into more advanced aspects.
