Reading has always been an important part of my life. Some of the greatest things I have learned have come straight from books. Books have also put the greatest amount of emphasis on my imagination; they are that escape from reality into a private unknown world. It fascinates me that two people can read the same book, but yet have two completely different interpretations of the contents of the story. Their minds take them to completely different worlds, despite the fact that they are absorbing the same material. Reading has opened up my mind and inspired me to want to further my education at Washington University.
I am excited about the prospect of entering and being accepted to the English program Now that I am working at the Business School, I am motivated about continuing my education in a field that both interests and excites me. This program will provide the functional skills that will help in my current position and in my daily life.
In addition, I hope to become an inspiration to my daughter as she grows up. I want her to realize how important an education is, and how it will help with achieving all her goals in life. I also want her to know that no matter what challenges she may face in her life, there is always a way to follow her dreams and achieve what is important to her.
My ultimate goal is to pursue an undergraduate degree in English and a graduate degree in Library Sciences. I believe this will better position me for my career as a Librarian. As a Librarian, I feel I would be able to work in an environment that would allow me to share my passion for literature with others.
