Introduction
This assignment is designed to help me develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required in the role of Human Resource Manager in the Beauty industry.
I am going to research and discuss the definition of what HR planning is and its purpose and I will outline the stages involved in HR planning.
I am also going to compare the recruitment and selection process in two different organisations. To do this the Beauty therapists and Hairdressers in the class will be split into two groups and will work together as a team to create a PowerPoint presentation on the recruitment and selection process used in their individual industry. I will be in the group with the other Beauty Therapists, we are all going to create one or two slides each to make sure no one is left to do all of the work themselves.
After both presentations have been made I will evaluate the effectiveness of the different recruitment and selection techniques.
2.1 Analyse the reasons for human resource planning in organisations/ salons
Human Resource Planning is the process of analyzing and identifying the need for and availability of human resources so that the organisation can meet its objectives. It is all about getting the right people at the right time doing the right things for their organisation and themselves.
Why Human Resource Planning is important
Human resource planning is essential if for any organisation to run smoothly. Without out it the salon/ business could suffer as lack of planning can lead to staffing problems. This can result in there being more employees than needed in a particular department and a fewer number in another department within the same organisation.
HRP gives employees an opportunity to participate in planning their own careers and their training and development. It also gives employees a better chance to utilize their talents, which is more likely to give employees satisfaction with their jobs. This could lead to lower absenteeism, fewer work related accidents and a higher quality of work.
Advanced planning also enables an organisation to take legal requirements into account while making recruitment, selection, training and development decisions.
HRP also helps to settle on the right qualifications and training that workers should have. It also helps an organisation anticipate possible redundancies and prevent such situations.
Appropriate planning can help HR foresee future workspace requirements like offices, proper ventilation, staff canteens, equipment’s and machines and other employee health and safety measures.
Overall Human resources focuses on the optimum utilization of human resource in order to minimize the overall cost to the business while ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
