Log Cabin: A Short Story

In a log cabin in the woods of Thompson Falls, Montana, a young girl lays asleep beside her mother. The room is small and lit up by the moonlight shining through the frost covered window and the few candles burning around the room, casting a light on the mother’s and daughter’s similar appearances. They both have long, curly auburn hair pulled be into a french braid thin almost fragile bodies, and pale skin covered in freckles. They are both in a deep, their eyelids hiding their foresty green eyes, making them unaware of the cabin’s window slowly opening. The opening window lets in a cold breeze and snow from the blizzard outside, blowing out the candles. A figure quietly climbs through the open window, and moves towards the bed that is pushed against the wall. As the figure walks its bare fear leaves tracks of mud and blood, and it mutter, “Tick Tock…Tick Tock,” getting louder with each step it takes. Once the figure reaches the bed, it stops and looks down at the mother, who is waking up. When her tired eyes open, they meet the black eyes of girl looking down at her. The girl’s mouth opens wide and screams. Hundreds of black spiders crawl out of the girl’s dark mouth, and they spread all over the bed and around the room. Mel eyes widen in fear. “Are you going to come with me?” Mel slowly nods in reply. The girl removes her hand from Mel’s mouth, tightly grabbing her arm, but Mel attempts to fights back. But her attempt was no use as the girl pushes Mel up against the wall choking her. Aubrie watches in fear and places her head in her knees.
