By prolonging their venture into higher education students may run the risk of losing their ability of retaining new information and recalling past material they were exposed to while in elementary, secondary and later high school. A common occurrence with seen with most students who delay their entrance into college lose the fundamental and key study skills, time management skills that they gained through the primary schooling, which in turn may lead to lower grades and diminish the overall college experience.
In conclusion by taking a break from academia graduating seniors can severely hinder their chances at succeeding at the next level of education, in sabotaging themselves in losing key skills that are a requirement for success at the next level. Furthermore, the possible negative effects greatly outweigh any positives that may come from a yearlong break. If obtainable students should want and look forward to attending college to supplement their educational
