A creative and inspiring title that is the same size: No bold, metallics or underlines. Linda Sue Park's novel, A Long Walk to Water, is the story of one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. The Sudanese war had separated this boy from his family and had to escape from country to country. This is the story of Salva. The main character Salva is based on a real person who survived because of the people he had by his side despite the negative hostile environment. Salva was in an Arabic class, to him this was just a regular day for him. CRACK!. POP-POP - CRACK! ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK! ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK! Gunfire. “Everyone, DOWN!” the teacher shouted. Some of the boys moved at once, ducking their heads Everybody Down, the teacher shouted. He knew there was a war, but did not understand much about it. Salvas teacher helped Salva dodge death. That is a survival factor. Salva did what she said and hid with the other boys. He was scared of what could have happened to his family. He was a frightened little boy, one could even say he was shaking in his boots. “This frightened little boy” was now a refuge. There were people walking beside him so much that they couldn't all be from the school village. There were so many people, yet he felt alone. No family, no friends, just him.
