LORD OF THE FLIES COMPETENCY ESSAY

In the fictional novel Lord Of The Flies by William Golding, the author tells us of the loss of innocence and childhood through the eyes of a group of boys stranded on an island in which they have to make many difficult decisions that impact their lives forever. The author gives us glimpses into his view on human nature with this quote “It was simply what seemed sensible for me to write after the war when everyone was thanking God they weren't Nazis. When they are bringing the pig back to the beach, Ralph spots a ship going past them, he goes to check on the fire they had made before, a fire that Jack was supposed to keep lit. He finds out that the fire has gone out. “The fire’s only been out an hour or two. We can light up again—” He noticed Ralph’s scarred nakedness, and the sombre silence of all four of them.
