For my project, I chose to look into low voting turnouts and see how I could improve them. Voting is a responsibility of citizens and voting promotes civic engagement. I will be able to vote soon, which has many problems with it. I chose this topic because I will be able to vote soon and this is a problem we have been dealing with for a while and hasn't gotten better. Low voting turnouts could lead to inaccurate elections and as more young people are able to vote, if they see a low voter turnout then they won't vote and this will keep leading the turnout down. The government and political parties are responsible for addressing low voting turnouts. The government can make voting more accessible by expanding the hours to vote, and the government can help fund campaigns to help get more people to vote. Political parties …show more content…
The voting process has made many different ways to vote, but its not easier and the requirements to vote have not changed. Many people feel that their voice doesn't matter; they also believe their votes don't make a difference. Another reason for low voter turnout is a lack of interest in politics or just not being well-educated about the candidates and their platforms. When people feel that they don't know anything about voting, they feel less motivated to vote. For every 10 people, only 4 vote. People who don't vote affect the candidates because, the latest article about the 2024 election, states, “But among respondents who were old enough to vote but voted in none of those three elections, Trump crushed Biden 44 percent to 26 percent”(DeSilver). This impacts the presidents because not voting is actually playing a big role in the election which is possibly letting one president win when the other one is more supported. People are noticing that for the people who don't vote, votes matter more because it is better to have a more voted election than a small voted
