He was a faithful man who followed the rules and was truthful to his own king. This was until three witches appeared and told him that he would be king. Lady Macbeth then convinced him to kill King Duncan in order to become king. This ambition was used as a dangerous weapon which caused Macbeth to lose the trust of his friends and triggered a series of deaths in the play. The Macbeth couple was tempted by the idea of becoming royalty; they could almost picture themselves in the castle with everyone kneeling at their presence. Macbeth’s ambition was revealed when he said “Stars hide your fires! Let not light see my black and deep desires” (Shakespeare). Meaning that he does not want other people to find out what his covets and what he is willing to do in order to get it. Through this we can see that he knows that his desires will make him commit bad actions.
