In this essay, I will be discussing why I believe Martin Luther King Jr. had a stronger philosophy than Malcolm X. A philosophy is “a set of guiding principles that we live by.” His philosophy was based on nonviolence and keeping the peace in protests, while Malcolm believed in black power and separation from white people. I will be going over how MLK believed in nonviolent acts and how Mr. X believed any violence was reasonable. Another topic will be how MLK helped the economy become equal and how he was supported by white and black folks.

MLK often organized many peaceful protests, speeches, and led the Great March on Washington. This was on the contrary to Malcom X’s beliefs. He believed in achieving his rights by any means necessary. Malcolm was known for being anti-white and expressing black supremacy. Although Malcolm was able to organize for the Afro-American unity, his philosophy didn’t reach its full potential as Dr. King’s did. During the civil rights act, there was a lot of violence and Malcolm was just adding to the fire. Dr. King’s attitude during this time was safe and understandable.

In an article it states, “King’s message was clear: economic inequality was a core issue in the fight for justice, and the lack of economic opportunities available to black Americans was a significant barrier to achieving true equality.” This comes to show how he wanted everyone to be treated equally.
