Manic depression is a mental disorder in which the patient experiences ups and downs in moods. A serious condition of bipolar affective disorder is characterized by severe manic depression. The patient suffers from high levels of elevated mood as mania symptoms while low mood levels and anxiety as depression symptoms. Frequency of episodes of manic depression varies from person to person. Manic depression can happen to both men and women. Symptoms of mood swings in case of manic depression can be categorized into depression symptoms and mania depression symptoms. Symptoms of manic depression may vary depending on the disorder type the patient is suffering from. Treatments are required to avoid severity of the disorder.
