American Dream Throughout American history, people accepted that anyone can achieve greatness by working towards their goals. However, over time, people grew skeptical if it really works or even if it really exists. Though, the American Dream is still alive and achievable. Some people would say that the American Dream is just a dream, but we believe that the American Dream will be brought fully to fruition. Throughout history, people have been able to achieve success from even the smallest chance, like “in 1849, gold was discovered in California. One hundred thousand men, mostly white, poured into California looking for their fortune overnight—and a few did find it” (Actively Learn, American Dream, Paragraph). In the 18th century, the American Revolution was carried to success by the American Dream and the idea of equality of being just more than the colonies to the British Empire. Every time something goes wrong in America, the American Dream is always there to give some hope to the future we all crave. It also has a problem, multiple people are abusing the American Dream and using the promise to get away with what they want. Manifest Destiny leads to millions of people being Ayala, Hardy 2 homeless and stripped of their native homes. It was made with honest ideals, the corrupted way to go about it is what makes a lot of people not fond of the American Dream. It also makes everything in the world pretty rigged and dominated by people who are already richer than everyone else. It gives people an unfair advantage over others by how much more to the top they are. Although it might seem like the odds are stacked against you, the way you can do the American Dream can always be achieved by
